CK at CK.....

Caelan came to us via FBA. We photographed both of his sisters in previous years, so it was just a matter of time until we got the privilege of taking his senior portraits. Caelan is a intelligent, athletic, and well-grounded young man. He plans on entering the ministry after he attends college. His school of choice is Dallas Baptist University. Since he is an all-state soccer player, Caelan wanted to incorporate his soccer attire. He also wanted to have some images with his Bible. The weather was so calm, quiet, and overcast. You couldn't have asked for a better atmosphere to photograph in. Anyway, we planned several images to be composites and they turned out fantabulous. Knowing Caelan's family, we are certain that where ever God leads him, he'll serve and be successful in pointing many towards eternity. Click here to see a short video from the session, and here to see more images on the site. Enjoy....

Captain America....

Even though I've never seen the movie, if there's ever a sequel to Captain America, Micah would certainly fit the bill. The title comes from part of our session. We were using an American flag to wrap around Micah in his football uniform, and Michelle said, "You look like Captain America".... and so the story goes..... Micah is a senior at RHS. The thing that really stood out about Micah is he's very down to earth and knows his place in this world (not many young people know that these days). He hasn't figured out what exactly he wants to do in life, but he thinks, AF Pilot, Ranchland Manager, or some kind of Montana State Trooper (if I remember correctly). His GF is Wonder Woman, so if the marry some day, they'll definitely have super hero children (thought you'd like that one Nat). Anyway, the session went a little long due to the fact we had to wait for it to get dark (kinda funny because we usually want light outside). Micah is a football player at RHS and he absolutely loved playing there, so lifting weights and wearing his uniform were things we incorporated into the session (i.e. waiting for the dark). I had the fortune of watching him play in his last HS football game and they defeated the district champs. What a way to go out. He and his mom seem to have a great relationship, and she and Michelle chatted quite a bit about raising all boys.... We all had a fun time, and the images turned out fantabulous. I'm sure Micah and mom will have a hard time choosing. Click here to see a short video from the session, and here to see more images on the site. Thanks Micah for allowing us this privilege of capturing you in this special time in your life. Enjoy.....

The Duke Family 9 months later....

We've been photographing the Duke family ever since Matt and Andrea's wedding. Nine months ago, baby Maddie was born. We did their family portraits along with her newborn portraits back in February. Maddie and her brother look so much alike (especially at their respective ages). We'll be seeing them again in a few months, but just wanting to post an image from the session. So cute....

Carina, Carina.....

.... came to us from New Mexico via San Antonio and Austin. It’s a long story, but she attends a Military Academy in New Mexico. Her mom lives in San Antonio, well just moved to Austin (see what I mean). She’s a black belt in Karate (so you better think twice about messin’ with her). She’s part Mexican and part Chinese (rare combination). Carina is full of life, she’s a beautiful young lady, vibrant, silly, and very down to earth. We had planned the session back in the Summer, but when Carina showed up, she had all new outfits. After scrambling for a few quick ideas, we made a plan and captured her personality. I think the images are beautiful, hopefully she and her mom think the same. The one thing I’ll remember from this session was during the interview, Carina made all of these faces and gestures that made me laugh (see video). Click here to watch a short video from the session, and here to see more images on our site. Enjoy….

Reece's Pieces.....

Couldn't help the title. Reece is a senior at Randolph HS, where he's in the band, an athletic trainer, and very intelligent to boot. His plans after college is to be a doctor. His mom says he the verbal Macgyver of the family (he can finnagle his way to just about anything). When Reece and his brother Wyatt came to us we started with brother portraits. I had an idea, so we went with it. It involved a trampoline (you'll have to see the pics, they are hilariously cool). Reece plays the drums in the band so we did some images with that too. We moved on and did the ER doctor images, then finished up with his skateboard attire. The images turned out really cool, so I'm hoping that he and the fam will like 'em. I have no doubts that Reece will be seeing his patients in the future. Click here to see some more images on our site, and here to watch a short video from the session. As always, enjoy.....

Definitely a Character....

Wyatt is definitely a one of a kind, and a senior at Randolph HS. He's really intelligent, musically inclined, and very eccentric. He's never short of words, and has an insight on every topic. I thought about sending him one of my wife's favorite books (Home Invasion). He seemed to really like it while he read it during the studio part of his session.... hehehehehehe (I thought you'd like that one Wyatt). Anyway, we started the session with portraits with his brother, then he showed us his cymbal spinning skills. We finished up with his Steam Punk themed outfit. His mom mentioned a construction site in town that would look cool with his outfit. So, a couple of days later, I went out and photographed it. I think the images turned out so cool. Hopefully, Wyatt and the fam like 'em. Click here to see more images on our site, and click here to see a short video from the session. As always, we'd love to hear your comments.... Enjoy....

Million Dollar Smile...

Danielle came to us from Judson HS. She's an intelligent, athletic, and beautiful young lady. She's not for sure on what she wants to do after graduation, but physical therapy might be a possibility. Danielle has a smile that brightens up anyone's day. She'll be looking at you talking, then BAM, that infectious smile. You can't help but smile back, it's like a magnet pulling the corners of your mouth up in response. Danielle likes Winter and cold, so being here in South Texas, we have to generate our own snow. With the help of Hobby Lobby (fake snow) and the wonders of Photoshop, BINGO, we got snow. When asked of her favorite High School memory, we were told the story of how she was given a Red Ford Mustang. Of course that was part of the session too (see below). I think we wore Danielle out. By the end of the session, her belly was rubbing her backbone raw (that's Texas slang for she was hungry). The images turned out too cute for words, so hopefully Danielle and family love 'em as much as we do. Click here to see more images on the site, and here to watch a short video from the session. Enjoy....

Miss Natalie Part II....

is a Senior at Randolph HS. She's our RHS Rep this year. Natalie is a very intelligent (top 10 in her class), down-to-earth, athletic, and beautiful young lady. Her future plans are to study Biology in College (undecided as of yet), then on to the medical profession. We have no doubts that she'll achieve her goals. We've had the privilege of photographing her several times so far this year. She's received so many comments on her American Flag image. So for her official session, she wanted to do some in her dress, some in jeans and different tops. We started at the Creek, one of which I absolutely love (see below). We finished up at our neighbor's house with the white fence (my favorite image of the session) and the field. The sunset was pretty amazing, we got lucky and got one image. The images turned out fantabulous and we hope Natalie and mom like 'em. Click here to watch a short video from the session, and here to see more on our site. Enjoy....

The Meaning behind the profession...

We've been privileged to be able to photograph the Bryson family for about 8 years now. The Brysons have a new edition to the family. Welcome Mercy Danielle. She was born on October 22. While baby was being fed, the girls wanted to get on the swing. So remembering a photo we took over 3 years ago of McKayla, we took another (see below). Seeing the change in growth, but still the same happy, silly, beautiful little girls is just amazing to me. What an honor and privilege it is for a family to trust us enough to come back year after year and capture portraits that document their family history. The magic of photography never ceases to amaze me. Scott and Chelli, thanks again for choosing CK.

Acting Future....

Rocio came to us for an Acting Headshot session. She knew about us from her sister, Dallas. We did her senior portraits last year. Rocio is a down-to-earth, intelligent, and beautiful young lady. The funny memory I'll take from this session is when Rocio was telling us about the roles she's played in her acting career. Her biggest role was the nameless jogger. I can't explain the details but I thought it was funny. The images turned out great and Rocio seemed very pleased with her choices. Maybe we'll be seeing more of her in the future... If so, we can say we helped on her path to fame....

To Be Young and In Love.....

I remember back in the day, when Michelle and I were young and in love. The giggles, laughing at the littlest things. Wanting so badly to please and impress eachother, that sometimes we did some silly things (like wearing buttons with the others picture on it, as if to say, "I belong to her".) Longing to be together when we were apart. And not wanting to leave when we had to. Greg and Savannah reminded us of those days. We met Greg when we did his senior portraits, and I met Savannah in one of my classes at school. Greg is a very intelligent, respectful, and level-headed young man. Savannah is a beautiful, authentic, fashiony, and organized young lady. Together we think they make a beautiful couple. Before the session started, Savannah planned out what types of images they wanted. I was looking forward to being able to create the images, and with Savannah's ideas, and both of their creative and willing personalitites it all came together. The one funny story I have to mention is that one of the locations we photographed in, there was this smell I can describe and be courteous at the same time. Lauren (Savannah's sister) called it "Ode d'Chloe". Let's just say I'll never forget that spot. We had a fun time, and the images turned out fantabulous.... Savannah and Greg were very pleased. Greg and Savannah, thanks for choosing CK for this special occasion, we are so honored to be part of it. Up next, the bridal portraits, then the wedding..... Here's a link to a video from the session... Enjoy....

A Genuine Football Fan.....

Allie came to us via JM High School. We photographed her sister a few years back, so doing a good job with her and a matter of time, brought the Houston family back to us for Allie's Sr portraits. Allie is a sassy, amibitious, outgoing, and spunky, young lady. She plans on attending a college in North Dakota where she'll pursue a degree in education. Allie says she loves North Dakota, but I don't think she's gonna like the cold weather (that's one good thing about good 'ol hot Texas). Allie brought her friend Kiersten (sorry if I mispelled her name), so there wasn't a dull moment during the session. Allie also brought her dog, Dakota, and she was funny to watch. Everytime Allie's dad would tell Dakota to stay, she'd get up and start to walk away, then he'd tell her to go back and she would literally walk backwards and sit down in the exact spot she left. Our session took us from the haybarn to the Texas flag, then to the swing, with a short stint in the grass, and finished up in the studio. Did I mention Allie is a die-hard Nebraska Cornhusker fan. When she was playing with the football, in the studio, she was showing her football faces, doing touchdown dances, and throwing spirals. I thought, "her dad certainly made her into a geniune, soon-to-be-a-tailgatin', football fan." Women that love football are a dime a dozen, so my hat goes off to Mr. Houston. We had a fun time, and the images turned out great. Click here to watch a short video from the session, and here to see some more images on the site. Enjoy....

VISION: The Key Ingredient in Photography

I've lived around a military base most of my life and never really had an interest in the airplanes flying over my head until recently. I was cutting the fields behind my home and one of the planes flew directly over my head (I'm talking very low and turned sideways so you could see the silhouettes of the pilots against the bright blue sky). I thought, "wow, that would be a cool image". Then with the meteor showers being visible in the night sky recently, I got an idea. I thought, why don't I wait, camera in hand, for the plane to fly overhead and angle it where the moon is in the background. Every month there are days when the moon is visible during daylight hours, so fortunately for me, it happened to be that time of the month. I waited, and waited, and waited... Planes flew here, there, and everywhere but not in line with the moon. After several days of waiting and shooting, I thought, why not use the available technology to acheive my VISION. So I photographed the planes flying over, and the moon when it was it's largest. Then I used my best friend in creativity, PHOTOSHOP; two images, using blending modes, a tranformation, and wha-la, super cool image. Having a picture in your mind (VISION) of what you want before you take the image or create it, is the key in making great images... So the next time you pick up your camera, set it down, and think about what you want to capture/create, make a plan, then pick it back up and go out and make it happen. Enjoy...

One to Venture Out....

Nicole is a Senior at Randolph HS. She's the eldest of four girls in her family. When asked who in her family is the most adventurous, out-going, and a tad bit of a rebel, Nicole answered, "me". Did I mention she also has "shampoo commercial hair". Nicole plans on becoming a physical therapist after finishing her education. She wants to help people and being a PT she'll do just that. The session started out with three vehicles in the driveway, consisting of her family and two friends. She used her parents Toyota pickup for some images with her dog, who by the way never warmed up to me ;( We had nine people in the front yard and I was the only male in the bunch. Talk about being out numbered... After taking some portraits in the haybarn, we headed to the tree line of crepe merdles, and wouldn't you know it, it started to rain (a common theme lately). So we headed inside and did some studio images for a composite (see below). Fortunately, we got to finish up outside. Nicole you were a blast to work with, and we hope you like the images as much as we do... More images on the site, and click here to watch a short video from the session. Feel free to leave a comment or two... Enjoy...

A Little Italy, Texas Style....

Brittany came to us all the way from Italy (yes the country, not the city here in Texas). Her dad is in the Military and they used to live here, but since moved. We exchanged numerous emails over a period of about 4 months. Time went by and yesterday her senior portrait session wrapped up. When you meet Brittany she's really soft spoken, literally. Her voice is very soft, however she's a bold, energetic, expressive, and beautiful young lady. Her plans after high school are not official but she wants to do something with hair and makeup. Brittany paid me the highest compliment I've ever received (as a photographer). She said, "the best thing about this (meaning the portrait session) was you (me). I mean that in the nicest, non-creepy way". Man I feel like a photograhy king, being paid that kind of respect.... hehehehe. I think what she meant was that we are so alike, quick-witted, sharp sense of humor, realistic, and bold individuals, that we subliminally bonded (sounds very "psycho-bablish" doesn't it?). We get eachother. Anyway, the session was broken up into two days, due to the weather, and the second day, Brittany brought her sister and two best friends with her. Let's just say that there wasn't a dull moment. The images turned out great and she'll hopefully remember this the rest of her life. Brittany, you are a special young lady, always remember you have this special gift of putting smiles on other's faces (you have that ability). More images on the site, and click here for a short video from the session. Enjoy....

Must See Places....

We recently returned from our annual Summer trip and I must say it was some of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. High atop the canyon rims, hiking down into the canyons below, climbing up spires 1500 feet above the valley floor, and hiking into slot canyons only 2-3 feet wide at places, we had the privilege of witnessing Creation at it's finest. There are many images on our site, so if your interested, click here to view more of them. Feel free to leave a comment. If some of the images inspire you to go and see these places, drop us a line and we'll give you details. It's hard to take a bad image of these places, so plan your trip now... Enjoy...

Lively Brenna...

came to us from Florida back in June. We photographed her sister a few years ago, and since have moved to Florida. Brenna is athletic, quick-witted, compassionate, and very family oriented. Did I mention lively, even being tired from driving straight through from Florida the day before, she still was game for spinning, walking, and giving me some sass during the session. She doesn't quite know what she wants to do later in life, but we do know after getting her education, she wants to have a family. Brenna's outfits seemed to suit her well. We got some great images, especially in the flowers. Her family is always a joy to be around, so close and fun-loving. We hope Brenna and family had a good time, and love the images... More images on the site, and click here to see a short video from the session. Feel free to leave comments, as we always love to hear what you think... Enjoy...

Vintage Miranda...

We thought our 2012 Senior Season was over, but we got a call from one of our dear friends and were asked to take her grand-daughter's cap and gown portraits. So we planned a one-outfit session. Miranda, or Mandi as everyone calls her, is a studious (very intelligent), realistic, and cute-as-a-button, young lady. Her future aspirations are to continue her education, all the way to the prestigous PH.D level. She wants to help people, so she'll probably go into some field that accomplishes that. After capturing her in her cap and gown, we went outside to photograph her in her uber-cool vintage dress. Of course we used the car, what else would help complete the vintage look we were going for? I must say that even though she acted like this wasn't a big deal, she took fantabulous portraits. They look like they came straight out of Vogue magazine fashion spread. Anyway, we had a great time, talking with close friends and getting some great portraits. Hope Mandi and fam like 'em, we certainly do. More images on the web(on our site, scroll down to bottom of page to view her pictures). Enjoy....

Meet Lauren...

Lauren will be our 3rd CK Rep at JM next year. I've had the privilege of getting to know her over the past couple of years and am grateful for it. She's a fantastic volleyball player (scholarship worthy); very reserved, not common in today's teenage, athletic world; she's extremely intelligent, and fun to be around. For the image below, I had an idea incorporating her in one of her favorite environments, the volleyball court (thanks Joel Grimes). We know Lauren will represent us well this year... You'll be seeing more of her this coming 2013 school year, but for now here's a few more images of her to check out. Enjoy...

It's Dollie Time....

Spring is in the air, school is almost out, so that means it's JM Dance Team portrait time. This year we went back to our traditional style that's we've done over the past 7-8 years. The girls were giddy and excited, as they waited in line for their H&S portraits. Afterwards (during the partner poses) their creative juices began to flow; some did jumps, some bent like pretzels, and some did their best Vogue poses. We all had a fun time and the composite turned out really cool. As always, we'd love to read your comments... Click here to see a short video from the session.... Enjoy...

Miss Natalie...

... will be a senior at Randolph HS next school year. She came to us through a recommendation from our 2012 RHS rep Rebekah (and Mom)... Thanks Gould family. Justing meeting Natalie, the first impression was a delight. She's athletic, has hair to die for, and seems very personable (in an honest, real way). Having big shoes to fill, we think Natalie will be a great rep for us. I'm sure you'll be seeing more of her in the coming year... More images on the site.

Sunday, May 20, 2012

Miss Emily...

is one of our 2013 senior reps from JM. She's extremely intelligent, dedicated, driven, and very respectful. I know she'll do a great job for us this coming school year. If you are a friend of Emily's, and want 2013 senior portraits, make sure you ask her for one of her cards... There's a time-sensitive offer on it that you'll benefit from (i.e. save you some $)... Click here to see a few more images of her on our site. Thanks Emily, we look forward to working with you this next year.

Elegant Dancer....

Jacqueleen, pronounced Zjock-Clean, is a senior at JM. I've had the privlege of knowing her for two years now, and one of those years in my class. Jacque is one of those gems that you love to be around. She's very down to earth, caring, creative, and most importantly, very respectful to others. I wish there were more Jacques in the world, it certainly would be a better place. She plans to attend UTSA in the Fall. She doesn't know what she wants to study, but she'll be on the dance team while she's there (that's pretty cool). I guess from the title you get the dance theme. She's a creatively, talented dancer. For such a little person, she can jump, turn, and twist like you wouldn't believe. Of course I love it when we get artistic/athletic seniors. Anyway, we started out in the flowers by the horse stable. Jacque wore this cool halter top, colorful dress. She picked one of our hats that just made it even better (I guess you know by now I'm a hat person). She wanted a Texas theme for all the family back in Cali. We got some great shots there and then moved back to the studio, where we did some ubercool car images. The light was amazing, so we took advantage of it and got some beautiful images of her there. Here dress was so colorful. Knowing she was a dancer, we had to get her in an airborn dance move (see below). We finished up inside with more artistic dance moves and her JM Dance Team attire. Jacqueleen was our last senior for the 2012 senior season, and I must say, there's not anyone better that could've wrapped it up like her. We truly enjoyed the session (even though it went a little longer than expected, Thanks Grandma for your patience). We hope Jacque and family love the images as much as we do... More images on the site, and click here to watch a short video from the session.... Feel free to leave a comment of two..... Enjoy.... ...

Miss Macy...

is a senior at JM. I had the fortune of having her in one of my classes her freshman year. Macy is a funny, determined, and down to earth, young lady. She plays in the band while also being a drum major. She also is a softball player who had the honor of playing in the playoffs the last two years (going the furthest in JM history last year). She plans to attend Texas Tech University in the fall. Macy picked out some outfits that seemed to bring out her best. Of all the outfits, her white dress and softball uniform really brought out her personality. We had a great time and got some really cool images. Macy thanks for choosing CK for your senior portraits, it's always a blessing to have someone that appreciates what we do. More images on the site, and click here to watch a short video from the session.... Enjoy.

The La Pryor Princess...

Kassi came to us from La Pryor, a small town about 120 miles from here. She found us on the web and because she wanted something different, she chose us to make her senior portraits special. She attends La Pryor HS, where she does just about everything (volleyball, basketball, softball, track, band, just to name a few). She wants to become a photographer and own and operate her own business here in Texas after graduation. I don't know about her skills as far as making images with a camera, but she certainly doesn't have to do much to take a great portrait. Her personality shines when she's in front of the camera. Kassi chose the creative session, so we had it all planned. We started in the haybarn and got some great images there. When then moved to the swing with her very cute teal top and shorts. She picked another one of our hats and I must say, she looked so cute sitting and standing on the swing. We then used the Texas flag. We came inside and photographed her in her prom dress. Then moved outside to shoot her (with a camera) in her country white dress, then finished up inside with her gaming attire. Kassi texted her friends and said she felt like a model. We are always happy to see our clients enjoy the sessions. And to think, we got some great images too. More images on the site, and click here to watch a short video from the session.... Hope Kassi and family like the images.... Enjoy...

Miss Shannon...

... came to us from JM via AHS. After graduation she wants to pursue an acting career. Shannon's a beautiful, happy, and simple young lady. Shannon brought her bestie, Lindsey, which was a huge help, fixing her gorgeous, thick, curly hair. She also helped with her wardrobe and makeup (thanks L for the help). Her pink dress with hat and jean jacket photographed really well in the haybarn (some of our favorites). But my favorite had to be the backlit holding a flower (it's on the cover of our senior page on our web site). She then changed into a very cute pair of jeans with white top and blue bow. I thought, "the car is screaming photograph with me", so we did. She's really into the HP book series so we incorporated several ideas with her outfit (hope she likes 'em). We finished up back in the fields with the flowers. Shannon didn't take a bad picture. She and mom will have a hard time choosing when they come back to view the images.... maybe we shouldn't take so many (hehehehe). Hopefully, they like 'em as much as we do.... More images on the site, and click here to watch a short video from the session. As always, we'd love to read your comments, so please leave some. Thanks again, Shannon, for choosing CK for this special time in your life.... Enjoy.

Miss Cutie Pezzutti...

Ann Marie came to us from a referral from her friend Rebekah (a recent senior we photographed). She attends Clemens HS and plans to further her education at Texas State or Texas A&M Corpus after graduation. Ann Marie is a super cute, fun, and athletic, young lady. Did I mention she has a great personality and she's super cute (hehehehe). From the first minute she arrived, we just seemed to click (I couldn't resist). Ann Marie brought her dog, Maggie, an Austrailian Shepherd. She was very timid, but warmed up to us quickly. We started in the haybarn and included Maggie for those images. Some of which are so darn cute. With a change in outfits, we made it to the car and field of flowers. Ann Marie isn't a flowery type of girl, but we put her in the flowers and she enjoyed it. The images are some of our favorites. We finished up with the swing, again trying something different, and one of the images makes our all-time Hall-of-Fame favorites with the swing. All in all, we had a great time, and we certainly hope Ann Marie enjoyed the session as much as we did. And the images are even better.... More images on the site, and click here to see a short video from the session. Thanks Ann Marie for choosing CK for this significant time in your life. We hope we helped make it extra special for you. Enjoy....

The Music Man....

I don't know if Justin can sing and dance, but he certainly loves music. Justin is a senior at the Communication Arts Magnet school in Northside ISD. He plans on majoring in music at UNT, then start a career as a band director. I think he has the perfect personality for that line of work. We photographed Justin's sister a few years ago, so fortunately for us, we didn't scare them off. Justin was pretty laid back, he had two casual outfits, but his final one was perfect for the car. We took some cool images with the car and then went inside to finish up with his instrument. I have to comment on his response to the Star Trek joke. He laughed so hard I thought he was gonna fall over (we know he'll never forget that one). We got some great images and had a great time. Hope he and mom like 'em? More images on the site, and click here to see a short video from the session. Enjoy...

Reserved Rebekah....

is a senior at Clemens HS. She came to us from a referral from another senior we photographed last year. We're booked solid for the rest of the 2012 Senior Season, but we had a cancellation so fortunately, Rebekah got a slot. Rebekah is a reserved, athletic, and creative young lady. Not to mention very intelligent. She didn't laugh to much at my jokes, but hey... we all had a great time. She wants to study Graphic Design and work in Print in the Advertising industry when she gets through her higher education at Texas State. Rebekah chose a cool, one-arm off-shoulder dress that perfectly matched the color of one of our neighbor's blooming trees. The back light of the sun just made the images really cinematic. The bluebonnets out in the field were also fun to work with. I think Rebekah had a good time, but we certainly wore her out. Hopefully, the images made the entire session worth it... we really love 'em. More images on the site, and click here for a short video from the session.... Enjoy....

Can I be Frank with you...

... couldn't resist that one. Frank is a senior at JM. He came to us from experiencing his GF's session last August. Frank wanted some images with his car, his dog, his wrestling attire, and his Letterjacket and jersey... Unfortunately, his letter jacket hasn't come in yet, so that will be another time. Frank has a really cool red Audi car. His dog is the Target dog breed (bull terrier). I thought for a second I was working for Target (red car, white dog, red shirt) hehehehehe.... After we finished with the car and dog we set up the Wrestling portion of the session. Derrick, Frank's brother, helped out with the wrestling dummy part. He volunteered to be thrown, slammed, held, and pinned. When we finished, I thought they had been through an actual wrestling tournament. We got some great images.... and will have another session in the near future... More images on the site, and click here to see a short video from the session. As always, we love to read your comments. Enjoy.....

Miss Courtney P...

is a senior at Randolph HS. She came to us through our Rep Rebecca (thanks again). We've now photographed 8 seniors from RHS this school year. Courtney is a funny, outgoing, athletic, and down-to-earth young lady. She doesn't quite know what she wants to do after graduation, but she's leaning towards a Psychology major (maybe). Courtney wanted some images in her Cap and gown, so we decided to do them a little different... one trampoline, two flashes, and a very athletic subject, and the images turned out way cool.... I won't tell you the funny thing that happened, but you can ask Courtney (she'll never forget it) hehehehehe..... Courtney also wanted to have some portraits done with her dad's '79 Corvette... that was pretty cool. Lastly, she wanted some flower and field images with her dress... We got some fantabulous images of her, and I know she'll love them.... Thanks Courtney for choosing CK for your Senior portraits, we truly enjoyed your company... More images on the site, and click here for a short video of the session... Enjoy...

Fun with Dallas....

Dallas is a senior at Judson HS. She plans on attending UTSA in the Fall, where she wants to continue to play soccer. Dallas is an unusual name, but she's nothing close to ordinary. She's funny but reserved, athletic, intelligent (possibly a future doctor), and very caring. Dallas did an excellent job picking out her outfits. Her casual outfit, seemed to match the the environment well. Some of my favorites were in the flowers. Her dress brought out her beautiful skin tone and silky hair. We finished up with her soccer attire. Dallas was fun to work with, and we got some beautiful images of her. Hope she likes 'em. More images on the site, and click here to watch a short video of the session... As always, we love to read your comments... Enjoy....

Our 1st Senior Rep for 2013...

Isabel is going to be our Senior Rep at JM next 2013 school year. I've been privileged to know her for 2 years now. She's so cute and has a super-duper, bubbly personality. Oh Yeah, she doesn't have a problem speaking what's on her mind, i.e. she's outgoing and friendly. We know she'll do a great job for us next year... As for the images, I've been driving by one of our country neighbor's properties for a few weeks now. The flowers have bloomed near an old rustic barn, a few pecan trees, and an old (I mean old) tractor grator parked in the middle, the property was screaming, "Use me for someone's portraits". So after a stop by, short talk with Arthur, a phone call to his brother Conrad, we got permission and it was set. Thanks again Arthur for allowing us to use your beautiful property. We usually start photographing our Next Year Seniors in May, but the flowers won't wait, so we talked with Isabel, and coordinated the session. Isabel did a great job picking out her dress, and the jean jacket made the outfit sparkle. We got some great images. More images on the site.... If you're interested in Senior portraits for the 2013 season, ask Isabel for a card, you just may benefit from it.... Enjoy....

Future Pharmacist...

Courtney will be graduating from Texas A&M Kingsville this May. She plans on being a Pharmacist. She came to us from Corpus Christi, finding us on the web. Courtney is a very intelligent, tender-hearted, and special young lady. The one thing that really stood out to us was her thoughtfulness and gratitude (two character qualities that have seemed to have been lost in today's youth). Anyway, Courtney was excited to have her portraits taken, and we had a plan. Since she's going to be a pharmacist, we came up with some ideas using her lab coat and research stuff. Her friend Pearl came with her so we decided to use her as an assistant in the background (bet she didn't think she was going to be used as a model when she agreed to come with Courtney). We also used the low-key setting for a few images, then did her cap and gown. We went outside to take some portraits of her in her super-Spring, orange dress. The session went a little long, but the images turned out and Courtney is going to love 'em. It's such an honor to have someone drive over 150 miles to have us take their portraits... we are honored, Courtney, hopefully you had a good time... we know the pictures will be worth it all... Feel free to leave us some comments... Enjoy....

Daddy's Girl...

Ashley is one our Senior Reps this year... I've had the fortune of knowing her for 3 years now. She's a wonderful young lady... the kind any dad would love to have as a daughter (I'm certain her dad knows this for sure). She's very athletic, intelligent, disciplined, determined, and very down to earth. Ashley plans on attending Texas State in the Fall, and wants to major in Broadcast Journalism... Erin Andrews better watch out, 'cuz I have a feeling that Ashley might be takin' her spot (hehehehe). She's had us marked on her calendar for a while now and it's hard to believe it's already done. Ashley mentioned that she wanted to use her camo hunting attire for a few images. I had the idea of camo"ing" up her face and doing some cool concept images, so while we were down at a local park and just as the sun was setting, I took some HDR images to use for the portrait shown below. Ashley has so many fantabulous images, I'm sure she'll have a hard time choosing. Ashley thanks for being such a wonderful Rep for us, and we hope your images will be cherished for many years to come. More images on the site, and click here to see a short video from the session... We always love to read other's comments, so feel free to post some... Enjoy....

In a Rush...

... family that is. The Rush family came to us a few months back for a family portrait. We photographed their youngest daughter Martha's senior portraits last year, so they knew that we'd do a great job for them. The one thing I admired about the family is that all of the children are successful. Two are pilots in the military, one in college and the most eloquent of the bunch lives in up North and does something important (I just forgot). Mom and Dad are now "empty nesters" so they thought it was time for a family portrait. We all had a fun time, and most importantly, got some great images that will be treasured for a long, long time... Mr. and Mrs. Rush, your family is amazing, you've obviously done something right, we can clearly see the joy and companionship your children share with eachother... hopefully, someday, mine will do the same... Enjoy the portraits... and feel free to leave a comment or two.

Freckles...

With society so caught up with perfection, photoshopping every part of women in advertising, it's so refreshing to get to work with simple, natural freckles... I tend to have a fancy for people with freckles, so you know I was enjoying every minute of being able to capture natural beauty in my own backyard. Erin is a senior at Johnson HS... She's athletic, intelligent, outgoing, and fun to be around. After graduation she plans on attending A&M where she'll study Business, she wants to follow in her father's footsteps. The thing we liked about Erin was her natural beauty... not much makeup, beautiful green eyes, and long, glowing, brown locks of hair.... Kinda reminded me of a lion prancing across the savanah in Africa. She wanted several images that we've done before, so we worked hard to recreate them. We started in the hay barn, moved to the fields, then the swing, then we jumped on the trampoline in her cap and gown, we almost wore her out with that. We then used a treeline and the Texas Flag, and finally ended up inside. All in all, we got some fantabulous images that would make anyone proud. Hope Erin and mom like'em. More images on the site, and click here to watch a short video from the session.... Enjoy.

Sweat Pea Naomi....

Baby Naomi was born into this world last week. Her parents couldn't be happier or prouder. Naomi is gonna be a cold weather girl. Mom says she loves having the covers off and just enjoying the cool air. When we were taking her portraits, (we usually keep the studio really warm for the newborns) her dad would open the door and let her get some nice cool winter air. It seemed to do the trick. We got some images of mom, dad, and baby together, as well as a few of her by her self that are so darn adorable (see one below). Courtney and Josh, we hope you enjoy and treasure Naomi for a lifetime... She truly is a blessing....

Brittney...

is a senior at RHS. She came to us through a senior we've photographed from there earlier this year. Brittney is an intelligent and full of life young lady. She wants to attend ACU after graduation and possibly major in Broadcast Journalism or Aerospace Engineering (bright girl, huh?). Brittney brought her sister (aka- Spawn Girl) with her to the session. We had Danielle hold reflectors and make Brit laugh. We shared corny jokes (Star Trek was her favorite) and laughed while we captured Brittney's cute little personality. When she told me that she wanted to wear her glasses in all the images, I was a little hesitant (outside images = mega glass glare), but fortunately she had non-reflective lenses. I think the images turned out fantabulous and can only hope Britt and family feel the same way. We had a blast photographing you, especially all of your crazily funny song and dances. More images on the site, and click here to watch a short video from the session. Enjoy....

Ms. Eccentric...

Jackie is a senior at JM... She's a funny, out-going, and spontaneous, young lady. She wants to go to A&M and study marketing. When Jackie showed up, her hair looked phenomenal, curls stayed in place the entire session, even with winds at 15 mph and cold temps (in the 40s). Jackie brought her mom and friend, Holly. As the session went on the temps dropped. Even though we picked her dress to be the last outfit, and the goose bumps raised to a new level, Jackie was a trooper, she hung tough till the end. We had a good time, laughing and telling intellectual jokes... and trying to keep warm. We got some great images and we hope Jackie and her mom like 'em. More images on the site, and click here to watch a short video from the session... Enjoy...

Baby Maddie...

Madeline Jane came into the world 9 days ago and was welcomed by her mom, dad, and brother Noah. We had the privilege of taking her first official portraits... We have photographed the family numerous times now, click here to view previous sessions, so we know them well. Baby Maddie is a little, tiny, girl. She looks alot like her brother did when he was born. Mom wanted to do some of the images we did with Noah, so we had a plan from the start. She was perfect, nice and sleepy, cuddled up waiting for us to take her picture. After a feeding, we finished up with the family image. Congratulations Andrea, Matt, and Noah... to the newest addition to your family. A nice even number.... Enjoy the image, and we'll be contacting you soon.

Special Moments....

When I really think about why I love photography, moments like yesterday help remind me of the significance it holds. We had the fortune of being asked to create images of the daughter of a family we've worked with several times now. Karys is a beautiful young lady that came to us for her senior portraits a few years ago. We then photographed her wedding, and now we got the opportunity to photograph her daughter. We have come to know her family over the last few years so we wanted to create something special, a 3 generations portrait. The reason we wanted to do this is because Karys will be leaving for another state with her husband, so mom, daughter, and grand daughter will not be seeing eachother as much. I've learned over the years that we are never guaranteed anything in life, it's precious. We just had some friends lose a family member at a young age. So the portrait below will be one that will be passed down as an heirloom. People never can value a photograph until time passes and things change. As a photographer, I get the honor in creating these precious gifts. I hope people may read this and appreciate the photographs they have and the people that are closest to them. Karly is a bright-eyed, beautiful little girl. If was fun trying to capture her personality. I think mom and dad were worn out by the end of the session. We truly enjoyed the time and are honored that we get to do what we do. Karys, Trevor, and Karly, we wish you a blessed life and that you will grow closer and continue to share the love you have for eachother. You have a wonderful family.... Enjoy....
